WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE FOR A TRAINED UMPIRE IN FLL?
Fulshear Little League will allow youth (Junior) umpires starting at age 14.
Adult umpires have no upper age limit. Parents are welcome and encouraged to participate.
WILL I GET PAID TO UMPIRE FULSHEAR LITTLE LEAGUE GAMES?
Absolutely! Pay is based on the division / age group you are umpiring as well as experience level.

Fulshear Little League will conduct online and on the field JUNIOR pre-season clinics (rules and mechanics sessions) in July and August.
Sign up for the free Little League Umpire Registry ( ) for access to training materials, the Rules Instruction Manual (RIM), and webinars.
Take the free Umpire Training Course on Little League University ( ), which covers plate and base mechanics, proper calls, and key Little League rules.
WHAT DOES FULSHEAR LITTLE LEAGUE UMPIRE TRAINING COVER?
Training for new JUNIOR umpires will encompass: online Zoom meeting session(s), YouTube videos, and on-field mechanics practice.
Rules — emphasize the “Rules to Know” (e.g., batting out of order, infield fly, obstruction/interference, pitching rules, leading off in Minors/Majors, etc.).
On field mechanics — Proper signals/positioning on the plate and bases, timing (“pause-read-react”), field signals, and two-umpire system basics.
Game management — confidence, discipline, respect in handling coaches/parents, safety, pace of play, and sportsmanship.
“First 2 games mentoring” - help & evaluation (FLL Board members).
WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL I NEED AS AN UMPIRE?
Fulshear Little League will provide: Umpire shirt, and hat. There will be spare umpire protective gear (mask, chest protector, shin guards, etc.) stored at the fields but our recommendation is to purchase your own.
Personal items you need to buy: For plate umpires - Ball-strike clicker/counter, plate brush, ball bag. Other general items including gray long pants, black shoes, protective cup (for plate), belt, and comfortable athletic wear.
